Marc first came into contact with Dr. Brené Brown in 2010 when she courageously filmed her TedX Houston talk. You can find a link to this talk below. From the first time I watched it, I fell in love with the language of Brené. I felt as if she spoke the words that I had been searching for all my life. I was in the midst of researching shame (well actually doing my own personal work on shame). In 2019 Marc became a facilitator with The Daring Way™.
Dr. Brené Brown is a research professor at the University of Houston where she holds the Huffington Foundation - Brené Brown Endowed Chair at The Graduate College of Social Work. She has spent the past two decades studying courage, vulnerability, shame, and empathy and is the author of four #1 New York Times bestsellers: The Gifts of Imperfection, Daring Greatly, Rising Strong, and Braving the Wilderness. Her new book, Dare to Lead: Brave Work. Tough Conversations. Whole Hearts., is scheduled for publication in October 2018. Brené’s TED talk - The Power of Vulnerability - is one of the top five most viewed TED talks in the world with over 35 million views. Brené lives in Houston, Texas with her husband, Steve, and their children, Ellen and Charlie.
Daring Greatly is a highly experiential methodology based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. The method was designed for work with individuals, couples, families, work teams, and organizational leaders. It can be facilitated in clinical, educational, and professional settings. During the process facilitators explore topics such as vulnerability, courage, shame, and worthiness. Participants are invited to examine the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that are holding them back and identify the new choices and practices that will move them toward more authentic and wholehearted living. The primary focus is on developing shame resilience skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead.
The physics of vulnerability is simple: If we are brave enough, often enough, we will fall. Rising Strong is a book about what it takes to get back up and how owning our stories of struggle gives us the power to write a daring new ending. Struggle can be our greatest call to courage and the clearest path to a wholehearted life.
Letting go of who you think you’re supposed to be and embracing who you are isn’t easy. The Gifts of Imperfection™ is about learning and experiencing the 10 guideposts for wholehearted living based on the research of Dr. Brené Brown. Take an experiential journey through the 10 guideposts to wholehearted living. This workshop is based off of Brené Brown's book The gifts of Imperfection.
BOLD™ is a courage-building program for adolescents. Based on Dr. Brené Brown’s research, BOLD™ combines parts of the Daring Greatly™ and Rising Strong™ curriculums that resonate for teens in their daily lives.
